Supercars Media and Network Ten’s collaboration for the 2017 Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 TV coverage has taken TV Week’s prestigious Logie Award in the Most Outstanding Sports coverage category.

The Mount Panorama race was pitted against cricket’s 2017/18 Ashes Series, the Australian Football League’s Final, tennis’ 2017 Australian Open Men’s Final and the boxing matchup between Manny Pacquiao and Jeff Horn.
The Bathurst 1000 TV broadcast is aired both by Network Ten and Fox Sports Australia, peaking at 3 million viewers and averaging a 1.9 million audience. Matthew White, Network Ten’s Head of Sport, accepted the award on behalf of all those involved.
One of the highlights of last year’s broadcast was the CAMCAT, a camera positioned on the front straight that could reach speeds of 150km/h.
“The Bathurst 1000 is about the drivers, it’s about the fans, it’s about the Mountain, it’s about story-telling. I’m really proud to accept this on behalf of the story we told in 2017 on Ten, especially from Mark Larkham, who told the story of one lap like it’s never been told before, edited by Aaron Hare”, White said after receiving the award.
Last year’s edition of the Supercheap Bathurst 1000 ran for over seven hours. With plenty of drama on offer, thanks to the rain and ever-changing track surface, Erebus Motorsport’s veteran David Reynolds secured his sixth career win and first on Mount Panorama alongside fellow first-time winner Luke Youlden.
With the Supercars and Ten Network partnership set for this year’s race once again, the 2019 editions of the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000’s TV broadcast is guaranteed to have plenty of good images and stories for the viewers. The action starts on October 4 and runs through the weekend, with the race happening on October 7.
